Description
A butterfly is supposed to be free.
I wanted to make one that could still move—but could also be gently drawn closer.
At the center of Tethered Butterfly, stainless-steel rings are woven into a metal butterfly. Two long chains extend from its body and fall vertically like a tie, adding a sharper, more androgynous line to its delicate form.
Pull the chains and the butterfly changes position.
Loosen them and it moves away.
Let the chains hang long or draw the butterfly closer to the body.
Its shape is never completely fixed. The wearer decides how much distance to leave and how much tension to introduce.
Freedom and attraction exist at the same time.
Softness meets metal.
A feminine butterfly takes on the structure of a tie.
Not completely restrained.
Not completely free.
Just enough tension to make the movement feel intentional.
